Ball Speed & Distance Control

Blue / Eagle – Best of the Best!

Here's what you can do to improve your putting's numbers.

EAGLE / Range < 0.35

  1. Very consistent contact – Elite standard

  2. Maintain using your current drills, focus on SPIN next…

  3. Centre Strike < 0.1⁰

“Most three putts aren’t caused by bad green reading, but by bad judgement of speed”  Ben D. Crenshaw

Causes of Poor Ball Speed & Distance Control – Range

  • Inconsistent Club Head Speed / RED Acceleration prior to impact.

  • Length of Backswing vs. Throughswing  = Tempo & Rhythm

  • Grip Pressure / Size / Style of Grip – leading to inconsistent club face rotation

  • Club head twist ? Are you hitting the ball out of the same spot

  • Inconsistent Ball Position – eyes often too far inside the line / forward or back in stance

  • Excessive body movement, body moving backwards during impact

  • Hands flipping at impact /  Too high a launch angle / inconsistent rotation / spin...

  • Check the amount of ‘Toe Hang’ – ‘more face balanced may help ?’

Consistency / Range Values How to interpret the numbers...

Blue / Eagle – Best of the Best!

The equivalent of a robot, it is not possible to do any better as a human being, please don’t try and improve this parameter, just ensure the you understands what you need to do to create such consistency for this parameter.

Green / Birdie – Very Good

These are still very consistent numbers created by the player. Again ensure the You understands what you need to do to create such consistency for this parameter.

Amber / Par – Average

Average range numbers, you are not going to set the world on fire, however they are still more than acceptable ranges..

Red  / Bogey – Poor

Irrespective of the level of golf played by the golfer, ranges in the red are going to hurt them, they display significant levels of inconsistency. Technique and club fitting need to be considered if putting performance is to be improved
